There are two kinds of SEO the good kind “white hat” and the bad kind “black hat”. The good kind is almost solely about creating high quality content and the bad kind is about exploiting weaknesses in Google’s algorithms for short term gains which can lead to long term problems with trust from Google. Whitehat SEO tends to be considerably more expensive because whitehat is done by human experts where as blackhat is done by typically using software and outsourcing to third world countries to create a lot of cheap content and fake backlinks to make it look like your site is popular.

SEO requires continuous work month to month for several months. Ideally forever because once Google sees your site is becoming more popular it will increase it’s rankings in Google. Once you stop SEO your site becomes less popular and Google will decrease it’s rankings.

Think about it this way. News sites are often looking for news articles. Fashion blogs are looking for the latest fashion items and techniques. Whatever industry you are in typically people are out there talking about it. It’s up to us to create something useful for those people and let them know about it. That way your site will become popular, which is what you want.
There is no cheap magic bullet peice of software or easy way around it. Making a business make money is not easy, or cheap otherwise everyone would be doing it. But there are a lot of cheap scammer SEO guys out there. Be aware.

Any SEO that is not focused on creating high quality content which gets real people like you and I to like it and share it. is basically trying to exploit and cheat google into thinking you are popular. This is cheap because it’s done with software and outsourcing content creation to third world controls.
However this “Black Hat” SEO which is often sold as “White Hat” will in the best case give short term gains which will disappear once google cottons on, or worse case and very likely, you’ll get banned from Google completely.
I know this because I used to do black Hat SEO… Yes me… the guy who is here telling you never to pay for it or do it. However this was 10+ years ago when we never thought Google would catch us at our game. Plus this was before I was creating websites for businesses. I created dozens of websites for myself and put affiliates links to products like Amazon, so if people made a purchase on one of my sites I’d get a percentage. That’s all above board and legal. But of course if it’s easy to drive lots of traffic to your site using nothing but software and cheap outsourced work from third world countries, then that’s what I was going to do… and it worked. Until the infamous Panda and Penguin updates Google applied to its ranking algorithms that meant all the Black Hat SEO was now almost worthless. All my affiliate sites rankings dropped and all my money went out the window. I could no longer make money being an affiliate marketer so I turned my knowledge towards helping businesses instead.
So now the only way is to do White Hat SEO. We can no longer cheat Google. It has become too smart and it’s only getting smarter.
Now more than ever only good quality sites with good quality content and genuine high quality back links will rank well in Google.
If you can’t afford SEO just write articles yourself on a regular basis and post them on Facebook and if you keep doing that eventually you’ll get somewhere.
